Ibn Battuta ( A Muslim Traveller)
ABDULLAH MOHAMMAD IBN BATTUTA(1304-1368)
was one of the great muslim arab travellers he was from a family of qazis he took his education from hejaz , egypt and syria he left his home at age of 21 goaded by a desire to see new countries and for haj. he visited egypt,syria. iraq . persia, arabia .. zanzibar, asia minor ,constantinopole, khwarizm. bukhara. india. malkdive, ceylon sumatra and china. he confirmed that torrid zone was inhabited by native tribes. he refuted aristotle thesis that hot regions of the world are too hot for human inhabitation . he served at the court of mohammad bin tughlaq he gathered many information about sahara desert and niger river. he pointed out that climate along equator was less extreme than north africa. he was quick at noticing manners , customs,trait.,traditions means of communication, resources and industries. his book "rihlah"throws light on the soils, agr., economy and political history of then muslim world he was a man of restless energy, curiosity, clear sightedness, and determination.
