*Hazrat Daniyal, peace be upon him*[Daniel]
Ibn Abi ad-Dunya narrated from Abdullah bin Abi al-Hudhail that Bukht Nasr caught two lions, threw them into a well, then brought Daniyal and threw him into that well. The lions did not harm him at all.[Nebuchadnezzar]
After some time he felt hunger and thirst, so Allah the Exalted sent revelation to Hazrat Armiya in Sham, telling him to prepare food and drink for Daniyal. He said, “O Allah, I am here in the Holy Land of Palestine, while Daniyal is in Babylon, a city of Iraq.” Allah the Exalted revealed, “Prepare the food and drink according to Our command; We will arrange for you to reach there.”[Jeremiah][Syria]
When he had prepared it, Allah sent someone who took him and what he had prepared to Babylon, until he stood at the edge of the well. Daniyal said, “Who are you?” He said, “I am Armiya.” Then, “Why have you come?” He said, “Your Lord has sent me to you.” He said, “Has my Lord mentioned me?” He said, “Yes.” Daniyal said:
“Praise be to Allah who does not forget those who remember Him. Praise be to Allah who does not disappoint the one who places hope in Him. Praise be to Allah who, if one relies upon Him, does not make him dependent on anyone else. Praise be to Allah who gives deliverance in return for patience. Praise be to Allah who removes our affliction when distress comes upon us. Praise be to Allah who saves us when we begin to have bad opinions of our own deeds.”
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu al-Aliyah. He said: When we conquered the city of Tustar, we found a bed in the treasury of Hurmuzan. On it was a corpse, and at its head there was a writing. We took that writing and brought it to Hazrat Umar bin al-Khattab. He summoned Hazrat Ka‘b, who wrote its Arabic translation. I was the first to read that Arabic text, and I remember it now just as I remember the Qur’an.
Khalid bin Dinar says: I asked Abu al-Aliyah, “What was written in it?” He said: “Your matter, your conversations, and the events that will occur in the future, O you Muslims.”
I said, “Then what did you do with his body?” He said: “During the day we dug thirteen different graves. At night we buried him in one of the graves and leveled them all, so that those people would not know and would not dig up the grave and take out his body.”
I said, “What did they expect from the body?” He said: “When it did not rain, they would place his bed in an open field, and then it would rain.”
I said, “In your opinion, who was this person?” He said: “There was no change in him at all. His name was Daniyal.” I said, “How long has it been since he passed away?” He said: “300 years.” I said, “Was there any change in his body?” He said: “No, except that a few hairs had fallen out.”
