*Hazrat Dawud, peace be upon him*[David]


It is narrated from Wahb bin Munabbih, may Allah have mercy on him, that Hazrat Dawud was short in stature, had blue eyes, sparse hair, and a pure heart. When Hazrat Dawud killed Jalut, he earned respect and love in the hearts of the Children of Israel. Eventually he was made king. Allah the Exalted also granted him prophethood. In this way, prophethood and kingship were united in one person. Before this, a king would be from one tribe and a prophet from another.[Goliath]


Some say that when Jalut challenged Talut to a duel, he said, “Either you come to me or I will come to you.” Talut asked his army, “Who will accept his challenge?” Hazrat Dawud came forward, fought Jalut, and killed him.


Wahb bin Munabbih states that the people, impressed by Hazrat Dawud’s bravery, deposed Talut and made Hazrat Dawud king.


_“And We certainly gave Dawud from Us bounty. [We said], ‘O mountains, repeat praises with him, and the birds [as well].’ And We made iron pliable for him,, ‘Make coats of mail and measure the links precisely, and do righteous deeds. Indeed, I am Seeing of what you do.’”_[saying]


_“And We subjected the mountains to Dawud, glorifying along with him, and the birds as well. And We were the Doers [of that]. And We taught him the making of armor for you to protect you in your battles. So will you then be grateful?”_[Allah]


It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas that two men brought their dispute to Dawud. The plaintiff claimed, “He snatched my jewelry.” The defendant denied it. He deferred their judgment until night. When night came, revelation was sent from Allah that the plaintiff should be executed.


In the morning, Hazrat Dawud said to the plaintiff, “Allah has revealed to me that I should kill you, so I will surely kill you. Now tell me truthfully — what is the reality?” He said, “O Prophet of Allah, I am completely truthful in my claim, but I had killed his father.” Dawud sentenced that man to death.


From this incident, Hazrat Dawud’s status rose very high in the eyes of the Children of Israel, and they obeyed him very well.


In the account of the creation of Hazrat Adam, this incident is mentioned: When Allah brought forth your offspring from your loins, you saw among them a man with a very radiant face. You asked, “O Lord, who is this?” Allah said, “This is your son Dawud.” You asked, “Lord, how long is his life?” He said, “Sixty years.” You said, “O Allah, increase his lifespan.” He said, “No, but I can reduce from your lifespan and add it to his.”

Maulvi Samiullah Khan

 Maulvi Samiullah Khan  He was a close aziz of Sir Syed. Born in 1834 in Delhi, after getting Arabic-Persian education, he got law education and got the post of Munsif. He had a keen eye on the law, hence gave clan-like decisions, but did this work according to his temperament. After not getting the desired results, he resigned and started practicing law.He started it on the very first day. Sir Syed's followers are helpful in his education movement. When a Madrasa was established in Aligarh under his mother, its supervision was handed over to him. He carried out his duties with utmost audacity. On the issue of Syed Mahmood's murder, he spoke to Sir Syed. There was a disagreement and there was a bad temper.But his sympathy for the college remained with him till the end.
