*Hazrat Isa (Peace be upon him) – Part 2*
And mention Maryam in the Book [the Qur’an] when she withdrew from her family to a place toward the east. She placed a screen between herself and them. At that time We sent Our angel to her, and he appeared before her in the form of a perfect man. Maryam said: “If you are God-fearing, then I seek refuge in Allah from you.” He said: “I am only a messenger from your Lord, and I have come to give you a pure boy.” Maryam said: “How can I have a boy when no man has touched me, nor am I unchaste?” The angel said: “Thus it will be. Your Lord has said: ‘It is easy for Me. And We will make him a sign for the people and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter already decreed.’” So she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a remote place. Then the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a date-palm. She said: “Would that I had died before this and had been forgotten, out of sight.” Then the angel called her from below her: “Do not grieve. Your Lord has provided a stream beneath you. And shake the trunk of the date-palm toward you; it will drop upon you fresh, ripe dates. So eat and drink and be comforted. And if you see any man, say: ‘I have vowed a fast for the Most Merciful, so I will not speak today to any human being.’” Then she brought him to her people, carrying him. They said: “O Maryam, you have certainly done something unprecedented. O sister of Harun, your father was not an evil man, nor was your mother unchaste.” So she pointed to him. They said: “How can we speak to one who is a child in the cradle?” The child said: “Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet. And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and zakah as long as I live, and [made me] dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant. And peace is on me the day I was born, and the day I will die, and the day I am raised alive.” That is Isa, the son of Maryam — the word of truth about which they are in doubt. It is not befitting for Allah to take a son; exalted is He. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, “Be,” and it is. And indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. This is the straight path. Then the sects among the People of the Book differed among themselves. So woe to those who disbelieved from the scene of a tremendous Day. And mention Maryam, who guarded her chastity, so We breathed into her of Our spirit and made her and her son a sign for the worlds.[Qur’an 19:16-34, 21:91]
O Muhammad, this is how We recite to you the verses of Allah and the wise reminder. The likeness of Isa before Allah is as the likeness of Adam. He created him from dust; then He said to him, “Be,” and he was. This is the truth from your Lord, so never be among the doubters. Then if they argue with you about him after knowledge has come to you, say: “Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves, then let us pray earnestly and invoke the curse of Allah upon the liars.” This account is the truth. And there is no deity except Allah. Indeed, Allah is the Mighty, the Wise. But if they turn away, then indeed Allah is Knowing of the corrupters.[Qur’an 3:58-63]
And they say, “Allah has taken a son.” You have certainly spoken a grave thing. The heavens almost rupture therefrom and the earth splits open and the mountains collapse in devastation, that they attribute to Allah a son. And it is not appropriate for Allah that He should take a son. There is none in the heavens and earth but that he comes to Allah as a servant. He has enumerated them and counted them precisely. And each of them will come to Him on the Day of Resurrection alone.[Qur’an 19:88-95]
