Makhdum Hazrat Syed Husain Sharfuddin Shah WilayatHazrat Shah Wilayat Sahib was born in 653 Hijri, corresponding to 1252 CE. Shah Wilayat’s great ancestor was Hazrat Syed Haroon, who was the grandson of the 10th Imam, Hazrat Ali Naqi. He had settled from Medina near the city of Baghdad in Iraq. Because Syed Haroon Sahib was Shah Wilayat Sahib’s last ancestor who lived in Arabia, and after him his later ancestors moved to Iran, Shah Sahib referred to himself as Wasiti. Later, from Iran via Sindh, if we follow the path, his noble lineage continued into Hindustan.Shah Sahib’s family arrived in the form of a caravan. He took everyone to [the shrine at] 1208 Sharif and then permanently settled in Amroha. In Amroha, Makhdum Miran Syed Ali Buzurg’s arrival at Sabri had taken place in 1268 CE with a large accompanying group, in which Shah Wilayat Sahib was also included.This was the time when, immediately after the rule of Balban, the reign of Firoz Shah was being established. In a few years, Sultan Firoz Shah became a believer in Shah Wilayat’s spiritual eminence and then became his disciple.At the time of Shah Wilayat’s arrival, there was a tyrannical ruler in Amroha from whom everyone was distressed.Shah Wilayat Sahib was married to Syeda Fatima Tahira, the younger daughter of the great ancestor of the Bukhari Sayyids, Hazrat Syed Jalaluddin Bukhari, and the paternal aunt of the famous saint Syed Jalaluddin, known as Jahaniyan Jahangasht.It is written in historical accounts that he had three sons and one daughter. His eldest son was Hazrat Qazi Syed Amir Ali, who was appointed Qazi-ul-Quzzat of the kingdom during Firoz Shahi rule. You were a major landholder of Amroha. His three sons were Syed Ashraf Jahangir, Syed Mahmud Salar, and Tajuddin. In Amroha, the locality Khwaja is associated with these elders.His second son was Hazrat Syed Abdul Aziz. History records about him that when he went to Delhi for higher education, Sultan Firoz Shah Tughlaq honored him according to royal dignity and married his daughter Zubaida Khatoon to him. This noble passed away in Delhi a few months after the marriage and was buried there.The mother-in-law, like her father Firoz Shah Tughlaq, was a disciple of Shah Wilayat Sahib. During their stay in Delhi, the plague had struck. After her husband’s death, she left the royal court and moved to Amroha to her father-in-law’s house. After coming to Amroha, when a son was born, the daughter-in-law placed him at the feet of his grandfather, Shah Wilayat Sahib.Shah Wilayat Sahib’s house in Amroha was in the present-day Mohalla Panchdara, near Imambara Ballia. Even now, a platform there is associated with Shah Wilayat Sahib.It is said that when he came here from the Iranian sarai, the world-renowned traveler Abdullah ibn Battuta came to Amroha in 1340 CE during Hazrat Shah’s time. He also met him and received blessings in the last phase of Shah Sahib’s life.Ibn Battuta wrote in his travelogue that during that time Shah Sahib and his senior companions honored him.The Urs of Hazrat Syed Husain Sharfuddin Shah Wilayat Sahib, on the occasion of his death anniversary, continues for four days from 18th to 21st Rajab.0
