*Rulings (Masail)*

_Source: Bahishti Zewar, Hakim al-Ummah Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi_

*Ruling 1)* The person who recites a verse of prostration (_ayat-e-sajda_) is obliged to perform _sajda_, and it also becomes obligatory upon the one who hears it.

*Ruling 2)* If someone travels one or two stages (_manzil_), no ruling of Shariah changes due to travel. The one who sets out with the intention of traveling three stages is considered a _musafir_ according to Shariah. Three stages means a distance that most people traveling on foot usually cover in three days. Whoever is a _musafir_ by Shariah should pray two rak‘ats for the fard of Zuhr, Asr, and Isha. Regarding sunnah prayers: if in a hurry, it is permissible to leave sunnahs other than the sunnahs of Fajr.

*Ruling 3)* If a woman’s husband dies, it is permissible for her to bathe and shroud him. And if the wife dies, it is not permissible for the husband to touch her body or place his hand on her. However, looking at her is permissible, and touching her over a cloth is also permissible.

*Ruling 4)* If women perform the funeral prayer (_janazah_), it is still valid.

*Ruling 5)* If one halts somewhere on the way, and the intention is to stay for less than 15 days, then he will remain a _musafir_ throughout.

*Ruling 6)* To place a pillow or any raised object for prostration and perform _sajda_ on it is not preferred.
