*Mixing of Non-Islamic Ideologies in Islamic Sufism – Part 3*
The Qaramitah had advised their followers, who were given the rank of _da‘wah_, that when you preach to a person, first become acquainted with his beliefs, then present yourself as like-minded to him so that he does not become ill-disposed toward you. When he trusts you, then begin gradually to shake his beliefs.
The beliefs of this chain are as follows:
1) Muhammad (SAW) and Ali (RA) are both special manifestations of Allah.
2) Allah, Muhammad (SAW), and Ali (RA) — all three have a relationship of oneness.
3) Muhammad (SAW) and Ali (RA) are in reality one, or two names of one person.
4) Ali (RA) was the tenth avatar of Vishnu.
From these explanations, it is proven that the Qaramitah preached their sect in the garb of Sufism and inserted their beliefs into Sufism, which are against Qur’anic teachings.
Pir Sadr al-Din in Gujarat and Pir Shams al-Din in Multan preached their beliefs under the veil of Sufism. An _urs_ is held every year at his shrine.
On the other hand, they inserted their beliefs with great dexterity into the writings of Muslim Sufis. They made interpolations into Imam Ghazali’s works from their side.
In imitation of these very Qaramitah, many Muslims consider Hazrat Ali to be the remover of difficulties and, in times of every hardship, call upon him instead of Allah. And any Muslim who forbids them from this act, they call him a Wahhabi. They elevated the rank of Hazrat Ali above that of the Master of the Two Worlds (peace be upon him).
