*Rulings on Leftover Water of Animals (Janwaron ke Jhoote ke Masail)*
_Source: Bahishti Zewar, Hakim al-Ummah Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi_
*Ruling 1)* The leftover of a dog is impure (_najis_). If it puts its mouth in a vessel, the vessel becomes pure after washing it three times, whether it is an earthen vessel or one of copper, etc.
*Ruling 2)* The leftover of a pig is also impure. Similarly, the leftover of all predatory animals that tear and eat — such as lion, wolf, monkey, jackal, etc. — is impure.
*Ruling 3)* The leftover of a cat is pure, but _makruh_.[disliked]
*Ruling 4)* The leftover of free-roaming hens that eat dirty and filthy things here and there is _makruh_. And the leftover of a hen that is kept confined is not _makruh_, rather it is pure.
*Ruling 5)* The leftover of halal animals such as ram, goat, sheep, cow, buffalo, deer, etc., and halal birds such as parrot, dove, sparrow — all of them — is pure.
*Ruling 6)* The droppings of haram birds, and the urine of halal animals such as goat, cow, buffalo, etc., and the urine of a horse, are _najasat-e-khafifa_.[light impurity]
*Ruling 7)* Except for hen, duck, and rooster, the droppings of other halal birds are pure — such as pigeon, sparrow, myna, etc. And the urine and droppings of a bat are also pure.
*Ruling 8)* If _najasat-e-ghaliza_ [heavy impurity] that is thin and flowing touches the clothes or body, then if it has spread to the size of a rupee coin or less, it is excused. If one prays without washing it, the prayer will be valid. But not washing it and continuing to pray like that is _makruh_ and bad. If it is more than a rupee, it is not excused — without washing it the prayer will not be valid.
*Ruling 9)* If _najasat-e-khafifa_ touches the clothes or body, then if it is less than one-fourth of the part it touched, it is excused. And if it is a full one-fourth or more, it is not excused.
