Se*Hazrat Isa (Peace be upon him) – Part 4*
Those people are without doubt disbelievers who say that Isa the Messiah, son of Maryam, is God — even though the Messiah used to say to the Jews: “O Children of Israel, worship Allah alone, who is my Lord and your Lord as well.” And know that whoever associates partners with Allah — Allah has forbidden Paradise for him, and his abode will be Hellfire, and the wrongdoers have no helpers. Those people are also disbelievers who believe that God is the third of three — whereas there is no one worthy of worship except that One God. If these people do not desist from such statements and beliefs, then those among them who have disbelieved will receive a painful punishment. Then why do they not repent before Allah and ask Him for forgiveness of sins? Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. The Messiah, son of Maryam, was only a messenger; many messengers had passed before him. His mother was a truthful woman. Both were human and used to eat food. See how We explain Our verses to these people clearly, then see how they are turning away.[Qur’an 5:72-75]
And remember the time when Allah will say: “O Isa, son of Maryam, did you say to the people: ‘Take me and my mother as two gods besides Allah’?” He will say: “Glory be to You! It was not for me to say that to which I have no right. If I had said it, You would have known it. You know what is in my heart, and I do not know what is in Your Self. Indeed, You are the Knower of the unseen. I said not to them except what You commanded me — that you should worship Allah, who is my Lord and your Lord, the Lord of all. And I was a witness over them as long as I was among them, but when You took me up from the world, You were the Watcher over them, and You are Witness over all things. If You punish them — they are Your servants; and if You forgive them — indeed You are the Mighty, the Wise.”[Qur’an 5:116-118]
And when Allah will say to him: “O Isa, son of Maryam, remember My favors upon you and upon your mother, when I supported you with Ruh al-Qudus [i.e., Jibril]. You spoke to people in the cradle and in maturity in the same manner. And when I taught you the Book and wisdom, and the Torah and the Injil. And when by My command you fashioned from clay the figure of a bird and breathed into it, and it would fly by My command. And you healed the blind from birth and the leper by My command. And you brought forth the dead from the grave and made them stand alive by My command. And when I restrained the hands of the Children of Israel from you when you came to them with clear signs, and those among them who disbelieved said: ‘This is nothing but obvious magic.’ And when I inspired the disciples: ‘Believe in Me and in My Messenger,’ they said: ‘O Lord, we have believed, so bear witness that we are obedient.’”[Qur’an 5:110-111]
And He will teach him writing and wisdom, and the Torah and the Injil, and will send him as a messenger to the Children of Israel, and he will say: “I have come to you with a sign from your Lord — that I fashion for you out of clay the likeness of a bird, then I breathe into it, and it becomes a real bird by Allah’s command. And I heal the blind and the leper, and I give life to the dead by Allah’s command. And I inform you of what you eat and what you store in your houses. Indeed in that is a sign of Allah’s power for you, if you are believers. And I confirm the Torah that was revealed before me, and I have come to make lawful for you some of what was forbidden to you. And I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, so fear Allah, the Exalted, and obey me. There is no doubt that Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him alone. This is the straight path.” When Isa sensed disobedience and intent to kill from them, he said: “Who will be my helpers toward Allah?” The disciples said: “We are helpers of Allah and your supporters. We have believed in Allah, and bear witness that we are obedient. O Lord, we have believed in the Book You have revealed, and we have followed Your Messenger, so record us among those who bear witness.” And they plotted concerning the killing of Isa, and Allah also planned to save Isa, and Allah is the best of planners.[Qur’an 3:48-54]e trans
