*Hazrat Sulaiman, peace be upon him — Part 2*[Solomon]

When the envoys returned to her with a stern reply, she saw no option but to submit. So, along with the Queen, they set out to present themselves before Hazrat Sulaiman to express submission.

When Hazrat Sulaiman received this news, he addressed his obedient jinn in his court: “O courtiers, is there anyone among you who can bring me the throne of the Queen of Saba before they come to me in submission?”

Among the jinn was a powerful Ifrit who said, “Before you rise from your place, I will bring it to you. Indeed, I have the strength for it and I am trustworthy.”

A person who had knowledge of the Divine Scripture said, “I will bring it to you before the blink of your eye.” When Sulaiman saw the throne placed before him, he said, “This is by the grace of my Lord, so that He may test me whether I give thanks or am ungrateful. And whoever gives thanks, gives thanks for his own good; and whoever is ungrateful — then indeed my Lord is Self-Sufficient, Most Generous.”

Sulaiman said, “Disguise her throne for her, so we may see whether she recognizes it or is of those who do not recognize.” When she arrived, she was asked, “Is your throne like this?” She said, “It is as though it were the very same. And we were given knowledge before this, and we were already submissive.”

And what she used to worship besides Allah had prevented her [from the truth]; before this she had been among the disbelievers. Then it was said to her, “Enter the palace.” When she saw its floor, she thought it was a pool of water and bared her shins. Sulaiman said, “Indeed, it is a palace paved smooth with glass.” She said, “My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, and now I submit with Sulaiman to Allah, Lord of the worlds.”

And We gave Dawud Sulaiman. An excellent servant he was! Indeed, he was ever turning [to Allah].[David]

When well-bred horses were presented before him in the evening, he said, “Indeed, I was distracted by love of possessions at the expense of the remembrance of my Lord, until the sun disappeared behind the veil.” He said, “Return them to me.” Then he began stroking their legs and necks.[worldly]

And We certainly tested Sulaiman and placed a body on his throne; then he turned [to Allah in repentance]. He said, “My Lord, forgive me and grant me a kingdom such as will not belong to anyone after me. Indeed, You are the Bestower.”

So We subjected the wind to him, blowing gently by his command wherever he directed. And [We subjected] the jinn to him — all kinds of builders and divers, and others bound in chains.

[We said], “This is Our gift, so bestow or withhold, without account.” And indeed, for him is nearness to Us and a beautiful place of return.
