Here's the English translation:

*Imam Ali Raza [with whom the Rizvis associate themselves]*

From the very beginning, the Abbasid Caliph al-Ma'mun had great love and devotion for the Sayyids, the People of the Household of the Prophet. As has already been mentioned, eventually Fadl bin Sahl and other devotees of the Ahl al-Bayt drew his attention toward Imam Ali Raza bin Musa al-Kazim. And the truth is that Imam Ali Raza, by virtue of his capability, was superior to all others among the Banu Hashim.

Accordingly, the Abbasid Caliph Ma'mun al-Rashid, without delay, married his daughter to Imam Ali Raza. Then, in the month of Ramadan al-Mubarak, 201 AH, he appointed Imam Ali Raza bin Musa al-Kazim bin Ja'far al-Sadiq as his heir apparent.

After that, Ma'mun also sent an order that the people should give the pledge of allegiance [_bay'ah_] to Imam Ali Raza bin Musa al-Kazim as heir apparent. And people became convinced that he had succeeded in transferring the Caliphate from the Abbasids to the Alawids.

The effort to transfer the Caliphate from the Abbasids to the Alawids was first made by Abu Muslim. Therefore, every Arab by descent regarded the heir-apparentship of Imam Ali Raza as their defeat.

On this same journey, the Abbasid Caliph Ma'mun al-Rashid appointed Ali Raza’s brother, Ibrahim bin Musa al-Kazim, as _Amir al-Hajj_ and sent him, and also granted him the governorship of the province of Yemen.

It so happened that the heir apparent to the Caliphate, Imam Ali Raza, passed away due to eating grapes. Ma'mun was deeply shocked by his death and, weeping, said: "O Abu al-Hasan, where shall I go after you now?" He remained as a caretaker at the grave for three days, with bread and salt as his food.

He had the grave of his father, the Abbasid Caliph Harun al-Rashid, dug up, and in that same grave he buried Imam Ali Raza next to his father.
