*Hazrat Adam (Peace be upon him) – Part 4*
In the book that the People of the Book possess and which they regard as the Torah, it is written that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, pardoned his punishment and granted him respite, and he went and settled in the region of Nod, to the east of Eden. They call him Qayin. He had a son, Khunnut. From him came Mahawil, from Mahawil came Matanshil, and from Matanshil came Lamak.
He married two women. One was named Adda and the other was named Silla. Adda gave birth to a son named Bal. He was the first to live in tents and accumulate wealth. To him also was born Nobal. He was the first to play the drum and the flute.
Silla gave birth to a son named Nobal. He was the first to make things of copper and iron. And he had a daughter.
It is also well known in it that Adam (Peace be upon him) went to his respected wife, and she bore a son. Hawwa (Peace be upon her) named him Shith and said, “Allah has granted me a substitute for Habil, whom Qabil had killed.” Shith had a son, Anush.
The People of the Book say: When Shith was born, Adam was 130 years old. He lived for 800 years after that. When Anush was born, Shith was 165 years old. He lived for 807 years after that, and he had other sons and daughters besides Anush.
Anush was 90 years old when his son Kainan was born. He lived for 815 years after that, and sons and daughters were born to him. When Khunij was 70 years old, his son Matushalakh was born. He lived for 840 years after that, and he had sons and daughters.
When Matushalakh reached the age of 65, Lamak was born to him. He lived for 800 years after that, and he had sons and daughters. When Lamak was 162 years old, his son Kainuh was born. He lived for 800 years after that, and he had sons and daughters.
When he was 187 years old, Lamak was born to him. He lived for 782 years after that, and he had sons and daughters. When Lamak was 182 years old, Nuh (Peace be upon him) was born to him. After the birth of Nuh, Lamak lived for another 500 years, and he had sons and daughters.
