Shrines of Amroha
1) Shrine of Haji Sulaiman and Haji Abdullah
This small shrine is located near the mosque in Mohalla Shahi
Chabutra. Detailed information about the owners of the tomb is not known.
However, the shrine is very old in Amroha. It is narrated that during the
arrival of Ghazi in the east, both were saints of high spiritual rank. In 177
Hijri, during the reign of Shah Jahan, Sheikh Mansoor, son of Sheikh Tajuddin,
had the shrine built.
2) Mausoleum of Syed Nizam Ganj Raw
The mausoleum of Syed Sahib is located in a small enclosure behind
the long-road mosque in Mohalla Naubat Khana. Among the saints of Amroha, his
era is the oldest. The grave of Dildar Shah Majnu is also near his
shrine.
The shrine of Shah Akbaruddin Suhrawardi is located in Taq. You
came to Amroha about a century before the time of Hazrat Shah Wilayat. Your
shrine is located about one _furlong_ to the south of Hazrat Shah Wilayat’s
shrine. The _khirni_ tree near the entrance to the tomb still exists today.
They say there is no tree older than it in Amroha.
3) Mausoleum of Haji Harman Suhrawardi
Located on a platform just north of the shrine of Shahabuddin
Suhrawardi. The grave of your revered mother is also beside it. On your blessed
resting place, there is an inscription engraved on a stone that is not clearly
legible. Sheikh Abdul Hakim was the ancestor of the family known as Sheikh-al-Mulaqqab.
4) Shrine of Hazrat Shah Wilayat
The famous and well-known shrine of Amroha is the resting place of
Hazrat Shah Wilayat. Among his many miracles, one especially famous is that
scorpions in the shrine do not sting. And indeed, non-venomous scorpions are
found here, which the children of the attendants catch and show to
visitors.
In the shrine of Shah Wilayat, from the olden days, besides the
grave, no traces of a boundary wall or any other building existed. During the
reign of Emperor Muhammad Shah, Sheikh Ghulam Muhammad, who was among the
esteemed nobles of the royal court, built the present boundary wall,
_baradari_, and mosque at his own expense.
Later, the southern-facing city gate was built by Gulzar Ali, and
the northern-facing gate was built by Syed Ejaz Husnain of Mohalla Gujri.
Beside Hazrat Shah Wilayat is the grave of your revered wife, and
at his feet is the tomb of your elder son Qadri Syed Amir Ali and his wife. And
at their feet are the graves of Shah Wilayat’s younger son Syed Abdul Aziz and
his wife. And at their feet are the graves of Shah Wilayat’s grandsons.
A little further, on the northern side, is the blessed tomb of
Syed Ashraf Jahangir Chishti, grandson of Hazrat Shah Wilayat, also known as
Sharfuddin. And near it are the graves of that family.
Inside the boundary wall is the radiant tomb of Sheikh Muinuddin
Nagauri Khudsar, the spiritual guide and caliph of Hazrat Shah Wilayat.
In the shrine compound is the tomb of Syed Muhammad Abdul,
grandson of Shah Wilayat. Its enclosure was built by Syed Ali Muzaffar Khan bin
Syed Aman Ali Khan of Ghadhiyal.
