EQUALITY AND BROTHERHOOD IN ISLAM
EQUALITY AND BROTHERHOOD IN ISLAM
In the light of Allah's statement, "Innamal Mominin Ikhwa" (All believers are brothers), the rights and responsibilities of all Muslims are equal. Qur'an al-Hakim in many places described that the favour of Prophet Mohammed(saw) for every Ummati is equal and there is no distinction of color or race and country in your(saw) Favour.
"Muhammad,( may Allah bless him and grant him peace) is the Messenger of Allah, and there is nothing else except it." (Quran al-Hakim). It has been explained with even more force - "Muhammad (pbuh) is not the father of any man among you, but you are the Messenger of Allah and the one who will finish the chain of Prophethood" (Qur'an al-Hakim). Your(saw) character and attributes cannot be taken in origin restrictions. The greatest fortune of your (Saw) movement is that you are the Prophet (Saw) and all the rest are Ummah.
All individuals of the Ummah have equal rights due to the sense of being an Ummah. There is no superiority over one another. Allah Almighty says - "O mankind, We have born you from a man and a woman, and made you tribes and nations, so that you may recognise each other. Verily, Most honorable in the sight of Allah is one who is most pious (God-fearing)" (Surat al-Hujarat 12) .Hazrat Abu Huraira,( may Allah pleased him and grant him peace), insisted the Holy Prophet, ( may Allah bless him and grant him peace ) who is most beloved to Allah? He(saw) answered that most beloved to Allah is who is pious even he would be a son of an unmarried African lady. (Ibn Hazm). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also said in his sermon of Hajj al-Wada' that no Arab has superiority over non arab, nor white has superiority over black. You are all sons of Adam (peace be upon him) and Adam(AS) was born from clay.
